7 Quick Takes Volume 10
01. Thrift store find of the year
I was out thrift store shopping at my favorite place when I happened across a pair of brand-new-in-the-box Chaco sandals. Thanks to some store credit, I was able to snag them for only $21!
A couple of weeks ago, a priest friend of ours gave a homily saying that all Catholics need to invest in a good pair of Chaco sandals and a trip to the Holy Land. So now all I need to do is book my ticket to Jerusalem . . . . which unfortunately would be way over $21.
02. Play that song
Joseph's parents treated us to a Train concert on Monday night and it was awesome. Natasha Bedingfield opened for them, the rain stayed away all night and the crowd was great - what more could you ask for? One of my favorite parts of the concert was Train's lights and special effects. It was an entertaining show, for sure.
If you haven't gotten a chance to listen to their new album, you can check it out here.
03. Trader Joe's, also known as my new favorite liquor store
Joseph and I took a short twenty minute road trip to Missouri to check out Trader Joe's and their alcohol section (they're allowed to sell alcohol on the Missouri side, but not in Kansas). It did not disappoint - we were able to try quite a few new drinks at super reasonable prices.
They also have canned wine - perfect for 4th of July parties (but more on that in the next quick take).
04. Our 4th of July was a BLAST
Joseph and I tried something completely new this year for our first 4th of July in Kansas City. The Catholic young adult group met on the top of a parking garage in downtown KC for food, lawn (er, parking garage roof?) games, and good conversation.
We had a great time waiting for the sun to set and the fireworks to start. When the local firework show started, we couldn't beat our view!
05. Shout out to this lady
18 years ago, Mom and Dad gave me a great present - Reagan, my little sister, was born on my birthday. Today she is officially an adult! Happiest of birthdays to this jeep-loving, hard-working lady.
06. Speaking of birthdays . . .
I'm 22 today! It's crazy to think back on all of the adventures that year 21 brought. I can't wait to see what's in store for this next year!
07. In other news, Wilson nearly avoided being electrocuted this week
Dear readers, I hate to inform you that this week, Wilson was not a good rabbit. He pulled a sneaky trick on us this week and snuck behind our entertainment set. He successfully gnawed on our speaker cords and radio antenna.
This picture was taken pre-chewed wires.
Thankfully he was smart enough to avoid chewing on any electrical wires. Needless to say, he will only be having supervised adventures from now on.
